Challenges and Progress on Water and Sanitation Issues in Haiti

DINEPA wants to assure that water that is provided to the population is tested, clean and controlled.

  • DINEPA has set up a water quality monitoring system which tests residual chlorine in water tankered to the larger settlements
  • Although SISKLOR (Water Quality surveillance system) was developed in response to the 2010 Earthquake, it is being extended in towns in the OREPA.
  • 258 Municipal Technicians will be in each communes to test chlorine residual in rural and urban water networks
  • 9 complete water quality labs are installed in 9 URD over 11 in October 2011
