Haiti Hope Project 2015 Annual Survey and Evaluation

Haiti Hope was a $10 million mango project sponsored by Coca-Cola Company (TCCC), the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF), the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID); and the Soros Foundation. The Haiti Hope Project’s primary objective is to raise the income of 25,000 mango farmers. The farmers will increase their income by over 100 percent on average after five years in the program.

Mango as an Opportunity for Long-Term Economic Growth

Haiti and the mango sector. Haiti is among the 20 largest mango producers globally, with a production of 200,000-400,000 metric tons (MT) per annum (p.a.). India is by far the largest mango producer with a production of more than 13 million MT annually, followed by China, Mexico, Indonesia and Thailand. India is also the largest exporter of mango (exports of 241,000 MT in 2007), followed by Mexico (236,000 MT, 2007) and Brazil (116,000 MT in 2007).
